Move Over Mrs. Markham
by Ray Cooney and John Chapman
FEBRUARY 2013

A comedy of chaos, misunderstandings, and mistaken identities becomes the setting for a tangled web of secret rendezvous in this British bedroom farce.
The play is set in a very elegant top floor London flat, belonging to Philip and Joanna Markham who are 'supposed' to be going out for the evening.
Philip is a straight-laced publisher of children's books, and he shares an office with his partner, Henry Lodge, on the ground floor. Philip has reluctantly agreed to let Henry borrow his apartment for the evening to 'entertain' his latest girlfriend. At the same time Joanna Markham has been persuaded by Linda Lodge to let her borrow the apartment so she too can get in on the cheating game and 'entertain' a new lover. What nobody knows is that the Interior Designer, who has been decorating the flat for the past three months, has the same plans with the European maid!
Not surprisingly, chaos and confusion ensues as they all unknowingly converge at the same time! To further fuel the turmoil, the formidable and very conservative, Olive Harriet Smythe arrives clutching a lucrative book deal. To avoid losing this deal, Henry has to pretend to be Phillip, Linda has to pretend to be the maid, and Philip pretends to be his own (adulterous) butler.
